Who is eligible to join Mob?
Mob is a group for all women, including transsexual/transgender/intersex women who live their daily lives as women, and all female-born transgender/genderqueer persons age 21 and over who have an interest in BDSM.
What does Mob stand for?
When the group was first established in the ’90s, it was the acronym M.O.B., which stood for “Massachusetts Orgasmic Bitches.” The acronym was dropped and now we are simply Mob or Mob New England – a diverse group of kinksters currently hailing from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.
What does Mob do?
Besides our monthly business meetings followed by demos, workshops, and discussions on BDSM topics (all open to anyone Mob-eligible), as a group we also host a rockin’ party at NELA’s annual winter Fetish Fair Fleamarket. Motivated members sometimes organize and/or host fun things like munches, extra demos, fundraisers, and field trips (to kinky places and not-necessarily kinky places like shopping events, museums, and the movies). Mobsters also have been known to throw the occasional private party, too! Check out our library catalogue, photo page, and list of past demos.
Can non-eligible folks attend Mob events?
Most of our events are for Mob-eligible folks only.
Is there an orientation for new members?
Yes. There is a New Member/Safety Awareness Orientation before the business meeting every three months. Every new member is required to attend an orientation as part of the membership process; all our current Mobsters have attended the orientation. Our New Member Coordinator (info at mobnewengland dot org) is also available to meet in the Boston area with prospective members prior to their first business meeting to establish a point of first contact and/or will happily address via e-mail any questions prospective members might have about the group or the membership process.
What are the perks of membership?
Besides invites to the fun private events hosted by Mobsters, membership to our business and social e-mail lists which provide great discussion and announcement forums, and easy opportunities to get to know a great group of kinksters, Mob is always looking for fun extras to offer our members!
